Privacy at home

No accounts, no emails from children, and results that stay on your device. A plain summary of who sees what, including the ads parents may notice.

What stays on your device

Children do not create accounts. There is no sign-up, no password and no email address collected from a child. When you add a child, the site stores only a nickname, an optional picture, a birth year or grade, and the practice results. All of it is saved in your own browser, on your own device. We do not receive it, we cannot read it and we do not keep a copy on a server.

The flip side is that clearing your browser data removes it. The Parent Area lets you export a child's progress to a file and import it again, and that file goes only where you choose to save it.

What other companies receive

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, and they may use cookies or similar identifiers, or receive technical details such as your IP address and browser type.

  • Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages, which receives ordinary web-server information, such as your IP address, when your browser asks for a page.
  • Fonts. The typefaces are hosted on our own servers. No request is made to Google Fonts.
  • Analytics. Google Tag Manager measures how adult-facing pages are used: the home page before a child is selected, the Parent Area, the help pages, the articles and the information pages. It is never loaded once a child is selected, on the skill and activity lists, or inside an activity. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, it stores nothing until you agree.
  • Advertising. Some parent-facing pages show an ad from Google AdSense: below articles, on the skill and activity lists that parents browse, and on the home page before a child is selected. Ads never appear inside an activity, during practice, in the progress report or on any screen a child uses to practise.

How the ads are handled

Because the site is meant for children, we ask Google to treat every ad request as coming from a child-directed service. In practice the ads are contextual and not personalised: they relate to the page, not to a profile of you, and no interest-based advertising or remarketing is used. Google may still use cookies or identifiers to measure, to prevent fraud and to limit how often an ad is shown.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message appears the first time you open a page that can show an ad or is measured. You can reopen it at any time with the "Privacy choices" link in the footer of pages where it is available. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the practice activities work without them.

What to do as a parent

Use a nickname rather than a full name if you prefer, since the name is only used to tell profiles apart. Export a backup file only to places you trust, because it holds your child's profile and results. If you write to us by email, we use your message only to answer you.

This page is a friendly summary. The full details, including your choices and how to contact us, are on the Privacy page, and that page is the reference if anything differs.
