About learnCoreSkills

learnCoreSkills is a free site where children practise core skills, starting with mathematics from pre-kindergarten to grade 5, with short activities, immediate feedback and progress that is tracked for each child. It is built for children to use and for their parents and teachers to follow.

Who runs it

The site is run by the learnCoreSkills project from Europe / France. It is an independent educational project, not a company selling a course. You can reach the person responsible at mail@learncoreskills.com.

Why it exists

Many children can recite a procedure without understanding it. The goal here is mastery: a child keeps practising a skill until it is reliably understood, then moves on. There are no lesson videos to sit through. A child practises, sees at once whether an answer was right, and gets more or fewer questions depending on how it is going. Parents see which skills are solid and which need another look, in a calm area meant for adults.

How the learning is organised

Skills are laid out grade by grade, in an order that follows widely used national mathematics curricula. Each skill has activities designed around how children actually learn it: counting real objects before symbols, comparing and grouping before formal addition, and so on. Everything is available in English and in French, and the French is written for French speakers rather than translated word for word.

How the articles are written

The articles in the Articles section are written for parents and teachers: what a skill really means, what to look for, and how to practise it at home with everyday objects. They are drafted with the help of AI tools, and then every article is read, checked against our competency reference and edited by a person before it is published. Articles are marked with the person who reviewed them and the date. Project news posts are a separate section; they describe changes to the site and are not teaching articles.

Privacy and advertising

Children's practice data stays on the family's device. The site is supported by a small amount of advertising shown only on parent-facing reading pages, never while a child is practising. The Privacy page explains exactly what is collected and by whom.
